Dear Controllers,

On behalf of the Indianapolis staff, we would like to take this opportunity to extend a warm welcome to the start of your virtual ATC career. This ARTCC is one of 22 that operate under the VATUSA network. Our goal is to be the best ARTCC on VATUSA. The ARTCC covers roughly an area of 60,000 miles. To the west is Kansas City and Memphis Centers. North is Chicago and Cleveland, and East and South are Washington and Atlanta Centers. We have 3 major Tracons in our Airspace. They are Cincinnati, Indianapolis, and Louisville, Kentucky.

With 60,000 miles of airspace and the complexity involved we will except no less than great ATC given by our controllers. To accomplish this the Staff has implemented a Training program that will give the new, and current students a structured way of learning the procedures necessary for controlling at Indianapolis ARTCC. The training program and other programs will insure that you learn all aspects of ATC to eventually get to work the whole center yourself. I encourage you to click on 'controller tools' on the menu to the left to read more about our training program and policies. Promotions are given based on controller ability, a written exam and an in field (OTS) exam. A great asset that has been afforded Indy is the "Sweatbox". This is a virtual server that allows pseudo-aircraft to be created on the fly. Our controllers can have real time traffic flow to hone in there skills. Training can be requested any time by first registering for your MyZid login. Once you have your log in then email the ATM requesting Training. With your login you can access training information, view events and much more. Events are organized times that controllers control a specific Airport and pilots are requested to fly to/from that airport, simulating real world traffic volumes. These are often very busy and fun. We usually have 3-4 major events per year plus 5-8 Virtual Airline sponsored events in between.

So I encourage everyone to get involved with events as much as possible. I encourage you to browse around the site, and learn about our Exciting hobby. If you have any questions please feel free to email me. I will do my best to respond to all emails within 24 hours.
